Eric Buterbaugh, Artist in the Medium of Scent

You may not know the name Eric Buterbaugh—unless, that is, you’ve seen the phantasmagorical floral installations he’s created for Hollywood’s A-list party crowd. (Follow @ericbuterbaugh on Instagram to clock him beaming with Gwyneth, Reese, Demi…) Now the LA-based “artist in the medium of scent” has partnered with a team of master perfumers to create a gallery of fragrances. That all are florals should come as no surprise, but don’t expect cloyingly sweet, or even conventionally feminine. To wit: Nick’s Sunflower, a summery abstract of yellow flowers and blue skies, was inspired by Venice, California, hat designer (and FFT favorite) Nick Fouqet. Find it and seven more originals presented in 10ml glass vials in the aptly named Discovery Kit. Or go big with Buterbaugh’s answer to a room diffuser: a taxidermy rooster whose feathers diffuse a gentle aura of lemon flower and jasmine. And, oh yes, the rooster wears a crown and necklace because, why not?

Meet Eric (and ask him about his start in Dallas with Gianni Versace), at Forty Five Ten on Main, Friday, Oct. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m.
